My favorite part of the film High Fidelity is when the protagonist tells the audience, “What really matters is WHAT you like, not what you ARE like.”
What am I like? Doesn’t matter. What do I like? Soccer, Chelsea F.C., making pretentious references in an effort to impress others, and writing.
Fortunately, all of these interests coexist in my articles for the Pride of London. So far this season, I’ve managed crowbar in references to the von Restorff effect, the madman theory of nuclear deterrence, Fyodor Dostoevsky, sunk cost fallacy, Aristotle’s Poetics, the most French thing ever, Julius Caesar, the Sheki Khanate, and The Picture of Dorian Gray.
So, if you’d like to see more of what I’m writing these days or see how pompous my references can get, head on over to the Pride of London!
